Google, Buddha, and Live Journal
So, one day, I get bored and decide to host a page of Live Journal images. Simply put, this page runs a script that grabs the last 10 images uploaded for use on LJ pages and displays them here...along with their HTML location. Consider it "dynamic hot-linking".
At some point Google's search bot stops by that page and finds an image of Buddha as one of the recent images...and it gets cached. Now mind you, I don't host these images, but that concept is as transparent as mud to some people.
Everyday, I get at least a couple hundred hits of Buddhist looking for images of their deity...even sending me emails to express their misplaced outrage. So, in order to have a little fun with it, I decided to keep a rolling tally of refers to my site based upon that image. It's at the top and it changes daily.
