Time for a new cellphone

My Sprint provided Sanyo 8100 is blowing chunks right now. For about the past two weeks, it has been dropping call after call and disconnecting from the Interweb. At first, I simply thought a tower around here was being worked on, but even in known strong signal areas it's doing it. Now my phone, when I make a call, goes into a perpetual "Looking for signal" mode. When I try to power cycle it, it will continue to reboot when it tries to find a signal again...and will continue to do so until I remove/replace the battery.

Unless I can get this model repaired (like that's going to happen), I will have to get a new model. "Sure, what's better than a new phone?", one might ask. One thing...Sprint has THE WORST selection of phones! The quality of the phones are fine, but the feature set they all have are horrid.

I'm looking for 3 things:

Sprint has no phone that has these three features. At best, they have a "slider" style phone with Bluetooth and Vision. All the others are video-speakerphone-$500 plus deals that have a mix and match of my requirements.

Oh well, we'll see how this goes. It's amazing how the mobile phone industy is set up. I'm actually willing to change providers just because of the handsets they offer.

Update - It turns out a software update on my phone has fixed it. I guess I can stick to my boycott of buying a new phone until I get exactly what I'm looking for.

2 ramblings so far

1. Which version of the software do you have on your SCP-8100? I have 1.115SP on mine... but I haven't had any problems with it.

2. I was just upgraded to 1.116SP, but prior to that I was at 1.113 or 14. He said he had to update me by a few revisions.
