Green light horn honkers

I've experienced this three times in my life, twice being this week. People who are second in line at a stop light, that lay on their horn the nanosecond the light turns green.

Until this morning I thought that it may have been a fluke. You know, like readjusting your hands or arm and you happen to hit the horn. No. Each time I've seen this, it has happened at the exact same moment of signal change. And the culprit always seems to be of the demographic: old white folks.

Now, I'm not sure if there is some mechanism that kicks in around 60 that would cause old white folks' reaction time to approach that of a ninja's, but whatever it is, everyone that falls victim to it is left bewildered. Almost like their own sense of time and reality has become shaken and questionable. I know this, because it has happend to me.

The first time I've seen old ninja-esque white folks honking at green lights was when I was 17. Naturally, I was stunned. And being immature, I got behind him and followed him blaring my horn. Yeah, I was jerk, and it hasn't been my only time since then.

I guess it's just suprising that all this time, I never thought more of it until this week when I noticed a pattern. Guess that means it's a conspiracy! That, or a few impatient, older people...who just happened to be white...with identical, split-second reaction time. Hmmmmmmmm

1 rambling so far

1. I was waiting for a friend to show up yesterday, and I happened to see the exact behavior you are talking about. Older while guy in a mini-van, and the instant the light turned green he was all over the horn. It is like he was at the drag strip or something. He squealed the tires through the corner and was passing people while weaving through traffic. I almost died laughing when I read this post. Maybe its something in the water, or a new medicine?
