I'm an 80's kid, and I love it!
I'm at a sweet spot in my life. I grew up during a time when "Saturday morning cartoons" actually meant getting up at 7am and watching 3 networks full of real, childhood entertainment. It didn't end until 11:30am (CST) when that stupid cat's storybook time tried to teach me a life lesson.
But, in between 7 and the stupid cat, I was privilaged enough to say my memories included: Transformers, GoBots, Thundercats, Silverhawks, Heathcliff, Jem (and what of it!)....I could go on and on, but you get the point. All those cartoons had a following.
Well, it's 20 some-odd years later, and the entertainment industry is fully monopolizing on it (well, maybe not the Jem part). I just found out yesterday that they're coming out with a live action Transformers movie!!!
So, why am I in a sweet spot in life? Because I have the fondest of memories of what it's like to be entertained by real cartoons - then go outside and let my imagination do the rest, growing up at a time when electronic games are just as acceptable for kids and adults (which keeps you young and reminded of the cartoons you grew up on), and movies are coming out that let me see what my imagination came up with.
I feel so sorry for today's youths. Movies of today are filling in my childhood dream's gaps...and are robbing you all of yours.
